Contemporary Pink Kitchen With An Appealing Design

If you thought decorating your home in pink was too flashy and inappropriate, here is an example that will make you reassess your options. We recently discovered this lovely pink kitchen which made quite an impression on us due to its attractive and tasteful design. The large interior is opened towards an outdoor terrace through floor to ceiling glass doors, making the whole room be flooded with natural light. A pink wallpaper sets the tone for the entire kitchen, defining an atmosphere that is both fresh and appealing. The kitchen is large enough for a couple to cook at ease and enjoy every minute. A table for six, with colorful chairs is seated right next to the tall glass doors, for a lovely dining experience. Still think pink is too ostentatious?

The UK’s Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) recently launched a campaign calledHomeWise to highlight the fact that most new build homes in the UK are falling short of the recommended size guidelines. Britain’s ‘shameful shoebox homes’ are failing to provide the space that families need for modern day living. The average new three bedroom home currently being built by the UK’s top house builders is around 8% smaller than the basic recommended minimum size, depriving families of the space needed to live comfortably and cohesively.

Just as new build houses are getting smaller, many of the existing larger properties are being carved up into smaller apartments or studio flats in order to house burgeoning populations. These small dwellings often cram the living quarters into as few rooms as possible and open plan seems to be the key with living rooms, kitchens and dining rooms often being confined to a single room.

With space being such a premium these days, innovative space-saving designs for the home are more important than ever. These compact kitchens from French company Kitchoo are designed to provide all the functionality expected from a kitchen in the least space possible. Most models incorporate an integrated fridge-freezer, an induction hob with 2 rings, and a telescopic mixer tap, whilst optional extras include integrated dishwasher, microwave oven, washing machine, recycling bin and cutlery rack, depending on the model.

Kitchoo compact kitchens are sophisticated, well-equipped and extremely practical. The five designs, including the award-winning K1 kitchen, can be hidden away behind closed doors when not in use and look like any other cupboard or dresser that you might find at home.

 

Living in a property with such a small kitchen can’t be easy. But these lovely little compact kitchens would certainly make life easier when space is limited. Don’t you agree?

Salah satu pendekatan desain terhadap mebel dan interior, yang relatif bertahan hingga kini, populer dengan sebutan minimalis. 


Gagasan ini sebenarnya telah dirintis sejak akhir abad ke-19, antara lain terlihat pada gerakan estetik De Stijl di Belanda dan sekolah Bauhaus, Jerman, pada tahun 1920-an.

Minimalis tak hanya ditemukan pada zaman modern. Berbagai kebudayaan tradisional dunia memiliki tradisi menciptakan benda fungsional dengan bentuk dan tingkat kerumitan sederhana, tetapi kualitasnya tinggi. Bentuknya pun indah karena tercipta dari upaya memenuhi fungsi.

Dalam mebel modern yang berkarakter dan berbentuk minimalis, segala ornamen hiasan menjadi benda ”haram”. Bahkan beberapa elemen tambahan, yang sebelumnya dianggap fungsional, dicari cara agar dapat ditiadakan dengan mengganti dari bagian struktur atau bentuk.

Misalnya, laci dibuka dan ditutup dengan ditarik dan didorong lewat sesuatu yang kecil, tetapi memungkinkannya dioperasikan. Pegangan pintu lemari atau laci dibuat dalam berbagai bentuk dan warna, selain karena fungsi untuk membuka-tutup daun pintu atau laci, juga menjadi satu-satunya hiasan perabot modern. Orang juga membuat lekukan pada sisi bagian depan atas/bawah laci agar pegangan dapat dihilangkan dan laci jadi ”bersih”.

Ketika hiasan dihilangkan sama sekali, lalu apa elemen estetis mebel minimalis? 

Para perintis desain modern mengajak orang mengapresiasi sesuatu yang dihadirkan oleh karakter permukaan material secara jujur dan apa adanya.

Desain yang bersih hiasan memberi keleluasaan visual sekaligus spasial. Material (alam) yang dipakai sebagai bahan baku mebel memiliki kualitas estetika sendiri, tanpa perlu diberi ukiran yang malah menghilangkan ”jati diri” materialnya.

Keindahan dititipkan pada bentuk sederhana, permukaan material apa adanya, didukung komposisi estetik yang diterapkan pada desain tersebut. Serat kayu yang meliuk-liuk di permukaan diolah agar muncul menjadi kekayaan visual.

Interior yang dilengkapi mebel modern minimalis menciptakan suasana lega, lapang. Ruang yang terbatas menjadi nyaman karena obyek visual minim. Mata juga tak diganggu dengan bentuk dan detail yang rumit. 

Konon, ruang bergaya minimalis dapat menjadi terapi jiwa bagi penghuni-nya...
